Seaway - Something Wonderful

by: Mary Welch

With no immediate eagerness to listen, I put off listening to the song for ten days too many.  I never really got into the band Seaway, after having heard partial songs here and there, but you could say "Something Wonderful" is something pretty wonderful.  The opening lyrics, "I like the way that you dress up, but wear your Martens for me.  I like that when I grab your hand, you tend to smile in your sleep,' is what I love most about this song, including the way the vocalist screams in that first verse.  The choruses are a bit too pop-punk for my personal taste, but there's nothing wrong with that.  The chorus is repeated a few times throughout the song and it refers to Ross and Rachel in the TV show "Friends."  That isn't to be confused with the bridge, where it refers to Zack and Kelly in the TV show "Saved by the Bell."

The happy vibes of "Something Wonderful" are a great way to close out the summer, and I hope they add this song to the setlist for their upcoming tours.  They will be opening for Four Year Strong's US in September and October, and for Silverstein in November with dates in Canada and the States.  Their full length album Vacation will be available to purchase/stream on September 15th and we cannot wait to hear it!
