Mitchell Torrence - 4 the Night

RIYL: The Script, Dirty Heads, One Republic

Franklin, TN native Mitchell Torrence recently released his single “4 The Night” featuring Chris Pollera. Self-described as “Indie Americana Pop”, and growing up with a strong background in songwriting and production, Torrence draws inspiration for his work from acts like The Script, City and Colour, and more – but this song takes on a new variety of dimensions.

A cheeky winter anthem about staying inside and cozying up with someone special, “4 The Night” takes the warm feeling of being inside on a cold winter day and brings it to a new place. Though the track is about winter weather, the island vibes of the guitar tones and sway in Torrence’s voice make this track seem reminiscent of a Dirty Heads summer record. The feature of Chris Pollera on a rap verse in the bridge only adds to this likeness – but by no means is this track generic. Torrence’s buttery smooth voice (and killer falsetto) could put any boy band to shame, but the guitar effects and drum tracks create a unique listening experience. All these facets are then paired with a polished pop sound – likely thanks to Torrence’s background in production – making this track catchy as heck and radio ready.
